Wellington, January 29. Speaking at a Liberal gathering this evening, the Premier declared that it was obvious someone had blundered in regard to the acceptance of the Argentine meat contracts, and he had only acted rightly in drawing pointed attention to it. If the Press cablps were accurate, tenders had been called under certain conditions, and totally opposite conditions had been accepted. He went on to say the Government was prepared to give the people of the Mother Country and British manufacturers a preferential tariff, and also to give a rebate on BriMsh manufactured goods carried in British ships.
