THE NINTH CONTINGENT.

Wellington, January 27. • It is finally decided that the North Island Battalion of the Ninth Contingent shall be mobilised at Auckland, and tbe South Island Battalion at Dunedin. Tbe Surrey is to take 570 horseß to South Africa ; of these 155 will be shipped at Auckland.

Lieut.-Colonel Newall has appointed Captain Major to the Eeoruiting Board for the Ninth Contingent. Dr Westenra has been appointed medical officer, and Captain Liardet, of Stratford, will be asked to act with Captain Major.
