VICTORIA WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Wellington, January 26. At the bowling tournament, great interest was taken in the final for the championship banner, which resulted as follows : —

Victoria, 44 points * r Palmerston, 36. The tie now existing between Palmerston and Wellington for second place will be played tomorrow. A game for the Huddart-Parker Cup was played to-day, Gisborne beating Bluff Hill by 21 to 15. In the third round for the Commercial Club trophy, winning teams were skipped by Mowlem, Newell, Perrett, Bunting, Littler, and Saywell.

On Hawera green, on Monday, R. Hicks defeated Ogilvie in the handicap singles by 22 to 8.

The man O'Hara, charged with horsestealing, was before the Court again this morning, but a further remand till tomorrow was grafted on the application of the police.

The hearing of the dispute between the Auckland Sailorß' Union and the Auckland shipowners was commenced yesterday at the Arbitration Court. The Union asks for an increase all round of 10s per month m wages, and for overtime to be paid at the rate of Is 6d per hour.
