CABLES.
Negotiations are proceeding between the Federal Postmaster-General and the Eastern Extension Cable Company. The former requires a vital alteration in the clause providing that the agree<menfc shall be only determinable by mutual consent, and requires farther information respecting the conoesiion as to the exclusive use of the wires. The prospect of giving suoh a concession is not viewed with pleasure by the Postmaster-General.
