Morton, charged with forgery of a promissory note at Masterton, was admitted to probation for three months. Morgan Evans, who had obtained tbe sum of £45 from a Palmerston hotelkeeper on the representation that he was a remittance man, reoeived a nominal sentence of 14 days. The Court commented severely on the action of the hotelkeeper in making tbe advance.
