MANAWATU v. WANGANUI.
Yesterday morning it was decided to abandon the match as a draw, on account of the bad weather.
It seems to be the opinion of many members of the Canterbury Cricket Association (says the Lyttelton Times) that the entertaining of interprovincial cricket teams is now being overdone. The expenses for entertaining alone generally form the biggest item on the balance-sheet, and it is generally felt that " the game is not worth the candle." Some leading cricketers are even willing to forego the pleasure and excitement of " rep." matches in order to keep the association's balance on the right side of the ledger.
