Auckland, January 22.

A fatal accident occurred at Foster's Bush, near Coromandel. Charles Bennett and William Reddy went into the bush to fell trees. Reddy was up a tree cutting off a branch, while Bennett .was clearing underneath, when a large limb fell and pinned Bennett to the ground. Reddy could not lift the limb, and went for assistance, but when help arrived Bennett was dead. He leaves a wife and three children.

Dunedin, January 23.

A ten-year-old son of David Porter, South Dunedin, was killed by bis horse bolting at Bluespur, where he was spending his holidays. The boy and a cousin were thrown off, the latter not being seriously hurt.
