WEDDING BELLS.

On Wednesday, 15th inst., Charlotte, eldest daughter of Mr P. Pitcher, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Mr George Derby, of Toko. Miss Pitcher was attended by Miss Ransom and Miss Olive Perry as bridesmaids. Rev Mr Philip was the officiating clergyman. The wedding breakfast was laid in the Athenaeum Hall, of which a large number of friends partook. The number of presents were very large, varied and valuable. The bridegroom's presents included a valuable gold brooch to the bride, a greenstone and gold brooch to Mrs Pitcher, and a gold brooch each to the bridesmaids. In the evening, in response to invitations issued, about 80 attended to the party held in the Hall, songs, dances, cards, and games being indulged in up to about midnight.

Harry Bryant'f. Comedy Company paid Kaponga a return visit on Saturday night, the hall being crowded to see the production of " Charley's Aunt." The company throughout well sustained the different characters, to the entire satisfaction and amusement of the large audience.

Members of the Settlers' Association and the settlers generally are pleased that the endeavors of the Association havo been partially successful in obtaining through Messrs Wilkie and Hastie, members of the Waimate Road Board, a grant of .£l5O for metalling the streets of the township.
