SHIPWRECK.

(PKR PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

Westport, January 20.

The captain of the barque Alexandra is reported to have stated, when he visited Charleston, that, on the morning of the disaster, he imagined he was about thirty miles off Gape Foulwind, when what appeared to be a dense bank of 1 fog appeared right ahead of the vessel. This ' turned out to be a bash, and: be gave instrnctions to change the ship round, but before ifc could be done, he had run on the rocks. The examination showed that the vessel was making water, so a rope was carried ashore and bound round a tree, and all succeeded in getting ashore by climbing along the rope. The crew camped on the beach. The vessel is practically a total wreck. It is understood she was insured in Denmark, where she was owned.
