Speaking of this company, the Waikato Times says : — Bernard Walther belongs to the Franco-Belgian school of violinists. He has complete mastery of the instrument, and literally makes it speak. The lightning sweep of his bow and the nimbleness of his fingers are sufficient in themselves to arouse enthusiasm, but when, added to these, are the wailing and flute-like harmonies and the beautiful double-stopping, it is no wonder the audience roso as one man to cheer him. Cyrus Brownlee Newton, as an impersonator, is unsurpassed. He has made thousands laugh. The San Francisco Chronicle remarks :— " Bernhard Walther, the celebrated Belgian violin virtuoso, has toured through Belgium, France, Great Britain, United States, Canada, and British Columbia. Artistioally speaking, he belongs to the Franco-Belgian school of violinists. His playing is frequently compared to that of Sarasate. Walther is a finished artist. His style is magnetic and his playing a revelation." Of Miss Lillian Walther, the Liverpool Courier says :— " Never have we listened to so rich a mezzo-soprano voice as that of Lillian Walther. She is queen on the stage, in appearance, style, and manner." The Company will give concerts in Hawera on Thursday and Friday next.
