STOOK SALES.

Fat cattle : Prices receded Is per 1001b on last week's quotations. Best steers sold from L6ss to LlO 10s ; heifers, Lo 17s 6i to L 7 173 6d ; cows, from Lsto L 9. Values ranged from 21s to 23s per lOOLb for best beef, 17s for cow and inferior quality. Store sheep— Of 6188 yarded, 1800 were cross and half-bred wethers of good quality, which met with ready sale as follows : — Four and six tooths, at 12s lid to 13s Id ; two-tooths at 12s 3d and 12s 2d *, ewes and lambs, 8s sd, all counted. Lambs Bold well, though many were poor and small, at 7s Id to 11s 7d.

Fat lambs — About 4000 were yarded. A satisfactory clearance was made at a slight advance on last week's quotations at 14s to 14s 7d.

Fat sheep— Over 3000, the bulk being half and crossbred ewes, locally reared bringing from 13s 9d to 15s lid. Lines of wethers from the North Island, which, with a bit of topping up here, will make excellent freezers, sold at 13s 9d to 15s Id.

Store cattle— An exceptionally heavy entry. Yearlings, 24s to 28s; 15 to 18inonths old, 38s to 43s ; 2 year steers, £3 7s Gd to £4 12s 6d ; 2-year heifers, £3 3s to £3 10s; 3-year steers, £6 10s; 3-year heifers, £4 8s to £4 15s ; dry cows ranged from 25s to £4 23 Gd ; dairy cattle, prices ranged from £3 3s to £9 ss.

Pigs — A large entry. Best baconers, 38s to 52s 6d ; porkers, 25s to 32s ; stores, 11s 6d to 235 ; slips. Backers, and weaners, from 7s 6d, according to quality. Baconers, best quality, equalled 3Jd per lb ; second quality, 3£d per lb ; porkers, 3|d to 4d per lb.
