Wellington, January 25. It has been definitely decided that the Cornwall, with the Sixth Contingent aboard, will leave for Auckland at sis o'clock to-morrow evening. A begin* ning was made with the shipment of horses this afternoon.
Ohristchurch, January 25. The Christchurch men who returned to New Zealand from South Africa by the Orient arrived last night. In spite of the heavy rain, a large crowd assembled at the railway station, and the men were cheered heartily, but no formal ceremony took place.
Wellington, January 25. The following troopers who returned by the Orient have been appointed acting lieutenants* in the Sixth Contingent, subject to the appointments being confirmed by the Imperial authorities at the front :— Corporals Morrison, Maodonald, Mitchell; Privates Wood, Wallis, and Blinkholm.
