WANGANUI.
Wangandi, January 24. The day was observed as a close holiday. In the morning an impressive memorial Bervice was held at Christ Church (Anglican), and to night a great united memorial service was held in the Opera House. The place was packod with nearly 3000 people, while hundreds
were unable to gain admission . The volunteers, fire brigade, and Garrison Band attended, as also tbe Mayor and Borough Councillors. Addresses were delivered by the Revs. Or. Bond (Wesley an), R. M. Ryburn (Presbyterian), and J. M. Marshall (Anglican). Hymns appropriate to tbe solemn occasion were sung by the great assembly, and at the close of the service the Dead March in Saul was played by the band.
