We had a full yarding of cattle (mostly well-bred sorts) at Waverley last Friday. With the exception of two lines of breeding cows, everything was cleared. Those passed in were subject to rather increased reserves.

At St. Hill Street yesterday another good yarding of cattle came forward. In some cases sales were readily made under the hammer, especially for fat cows, which were disposed of at advanced rates. Heserves in other cases, being on the high side, caused bidding to be slack at times, but afterwards we succeeded in disposing of the bulk at much about late ruling rates. We quote —

At St Hill Street— Fat cows, L 5 15a to L 6 16s ; store bullocks, L 5 18s ; 3 year steers, LstoL 5 4s 6d ; 2J to 3 year steers, £3 3 8s ; 18 months to 2 year steers, L33s 6d to L 3 12s ; poor yearling steers, 265 ; good sorts, L2 l2s 6d ; 2£ yeilr heifers, L 3 7s Gd ; cows in calf, L 3 19s. Sheep: Hoggets, 12s 7d; empty ewes, Bs 6d. Pigs: Baconers, 293 to 345 ; heavy pork, 22s to 255 ; light sorts, 16s to 19s ; slips, 53 to Bs. At Waverley —Fresh bullocks, L 6 ss; well-bred 3-year steers, L 5 13s 6d ; 2-year well-bred steers, L 4 to hi 7s 6d ; others, L 3 12s 6d ; well-bred cows in calf, L 4 10s ; others, L 3 15s ; well-bred mixed yearlings, L 2 13s; weaners, 31s to L 2.
