(from oub own oohbespokdkkt. ) The tea and concert held at the Town Hall yesterday evening, in aid of the proposed Wesieyan Church, was well attended, visitors from Manaia, Te Boti, and Hawera being also present. Tea wns on the tables a^6p.ra. ehatp, and the hall and tables were nicely decorated, the ladies having also provided, as usual, an abundance of i good things to satisfy both young and old, and those whp had charge of the tea-tables i were kept yery busy until nearly 8 o'olook. The following ladies attended to the wants of the visitors at their respective tables, and deserve the greatest praise for tha manner m which everything in connection therewith was oamed out : Mrs Winks and Mrs Dixon, Mrs Canning and Miss Canning, Mrs KUvington aid Miss Hunger, Mrs O. A. Bates and Miss G. Gane! Missßowe, and Davis, Misses Winks, Miss E Gibson, Mrs IW and Miss I. Bowe. After tea, the hall having being cleared, and the seats arranged by willing hands, the second part of the evening's entertainment— the concert— was proceeded witfi. The Rer J. Dukes, who acted as chairman, in a few opening remarks, expressed his pleasure at 3? «r ma 7 E resent » and als ° his gratification at knowing that at least members of three other churohes had assisted on this oooasion, and he trusted that the members of the? own churohes would also assist the other denomination on like oooasions The Rev. T. G., Hammond also addressed the gathering, and in the course of his remarks said it gave him great pleasure tobe present. He also paid a high compliment to those who had worked to raako the gathering sudh a success. Messrs C. A. Bates and W. Kilvington worked hard in attending to the general arrangements in connection with the entertainment, and are deserving of great praise for their suo oessful efforts. Messrs Dixon and Bates (Hawera) kindly lent a fine piano for the entertainment. The following programme was very nicely rendered during the even ing, and the old favorites, amongst whom may be mentioned Miss MoAlpine, Mrs Dixon, Miss Washer (Manaia), Mr Mo Alpine, and Mr Watkins (Dnthie road), met with great applause; so also Mr Messiter (Hawera) for his pianoforte solo. Programme: Duet (piano), Misses L. Canning and E.' Gibson; solo, Mr Watkins; solo, Miss Waßher; solo (piano), Mr Messiter; bo1o» Miss MoAlpiue; address, Rev. T. Hammond; solo, Miss Winks; solo (piano), Misb Anderson; solo, Mrs Dixon; solo, Miss White (Te Boti) ; duet (vocal), Miss and Mr MoAlpine; solo (violin), Mr W. Hutchens; solo, Miss MoAlpine; solq (piano), Mr Messiter; solo, Mr Watk'jjg, Mr Moore (Hawera| acted as accompanist with his usual ability. A hearty vote of thanks was moved by Mr Dixon t Seconded by Mr Gillinq (Okaiawa), and-oajried by acolamation to all the ladies and gentlemen who had bo kindly assisted ut both tea and concert, also to the Revs. Hammond and Dukes, after whioh the National Anthem brought a most successful and enjoyable Booial evening to a dose about 10.30 p.m.
