MANAWATff RAILWAY
COMPANY.
(PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Wellington, October 2.
The Manawatu Railway Co. claim that, upon the terms offered, the Government will be getting the line at some £200,000 less than has been spent on it. In view of the competition to which it is subjected by Government cutting rates, and less expense at which it can be worked in conjunction with Government lines, it is also contended the railway is worth a great deal more to the Government than even to the company.
