A FUNNY MISTAKE.

In the Sydney Morning Herald of the 19th a cable appears announcing the death of the Earl of Glasgow, ex- j Governor of New Zealand. This, however, is a misreading of an item merely announcing a death from plague at i Glasgow. It does not appear in other Australian papers, and confirmation would almost certainly have been received here. Moreover, the word " obituary " and not " death " is always used in cables announcing the death of distinguished persons. - i
