Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, speaking at Rochdale, said that officers' pay must be increased or their expenses reduced to prevent the Army becoming the playground of the rich. Received October 1, 8.40 a.m. London, September 30.
Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for India, speaking at Lambeth, was shouted down.
Members have been re-elected unopposed for Fernmouth, Toxteth East, Toxteth West, and Belfast divisions, Dublin Harbor, Dublin, and St. Patrick's division.
The following Tories have been elected unopposed : Astor Manor, Hon. Evelyn Cecil; Bury St Edmunds, Sir E. H. Green Agg; Hereford, Mr Arkwright ; Homsey Division, 001. Balfour; London, Hon. Alban G. H. Gibbs and Sir W. Dimsdale; West Derby Division of Liverpool, Mr Siginbottom; Wimbledon, Mr A. E. Hambro. Beceived October 1, 10 a.m.

Sir Henry Cainpbell-Bannerman, in the course of a speech at Rochdale, said Mr Chamberlain's despatches in regard to South Africa were not provocative, but his speeches excited suspicion. Received October 1, 11 a.m.
