LONDON, June 24.
Tbe House of Commons, in committee, bas, by a majority of 47, sanctioned tbe graduated estate duty reaobing 8 per oent when tbe value of tbe estate is over £1,000,000.
Tbe St. James' Gazette considers the Chancellor ot the Exchequer has climbed down with regard to tbe death duties.
The Daily Chronicle regrets that the colonies do not propose tbe imposition of a heavy tax on absentees, and states that the Chancellor of the Exchequer's con* cession regarding tbe death dues closes a promising avenue of British revenue.
