We hear that Mies Margaret Dive won tbe senior scholarship and Master Gilbert Dive the junior scholarship at tbe examinations held under the Wanganui Board of Eduoation last week. The former, from Hawera Bchool, won the junior scholarship a couple of years ago, which she now holds at the Girls' College ; and the latter is still a scholar at the Hawera sohool. Congratulations to all concerned.

Strenuous efforts are being made to induce Mr Scobie Mackenzie to reoede from the position he has taken up, and to fight Taapeka seat against Mr Larnaoh whether Mr Bawlins retires or not. Requisitions are in circulation in various parts of tbe electorate, and are being numerously signed.
