A deputation from the shipmasters 1 association waited on the Minister for Marine, pointing out the severity of tbe decision of the nautical cooit at Wanganui in suspending for six months tbe certificate of Captain Bowden, of the barque Freetrader. They urged that no negligence was proved, but only an error of judgment. Sir P. A. Buckley promised to give the matter tbe fallest consideration, and stated that the question of remitting the sentpnce would have to be ultimately settled by tbe Governor. AUCKLAND, June 27.

Another fatal accident to a woman on the railway line occurred at Otahubu this morning. The woman was seen running across tbe line just as tbe Mercer train to Auckland was approaching. She was warned by the shouts of the people on the platform to take care, but was caught by the engine and instantly ran over and killed. The body was terribly mutilated. The deceased was Mrs Smith, mother of the late Gabriel Smith, well known in the country districts near Auckland. The woman was literally cut to pieces, nearly tbe whole train passing over the body. AUCKLAND, June 28. A the inquest on Mrs Smith, killed on the railway yesterday, a verdict of accidental death was returned. No blame was attached to anyone.
