Manaia Chess and Draughts CLUB.
A meeting of those interested in forming a Chess and Draughts Club was held on Wednesday evening; Mr Hurley in the ohair. Mr J. W. Falkner was appointed ■ecretary and treasurer. Messrs Pearce, Stiton, and Hurley were" appointed baodioappers for the cbeßS division, and Messrs Fearoe, Blair, and Orowhurst for the draughts. The bandicappers and ■ecretary were also appointed a committee (or general purposes. It was resolved to give two prizes each for obess and draughts, such prizes to be in tbe form of trophics — not cash. The tournament amongst members commences on Saturday, 15th July, and all gameß must be finished by the 31st August. Meetings of the club will be held weekly. Oouutry members who may not be able to get in on Thursday evenings will be allowed to play their games on Friday alternoonß.
