The Daily Telegraph, in connection with tbe present attempt to introduce the frozen meat trade upon tbe continent, points out tbat if Paris had in 1870 been provided with refrigerating stores she could have held out against the Germans for five years, and Metz need not have capitulated for a year at least. LONDON, June 22. Canterbury frozen mutton, ex Eaikoura, is realising 4 id per lb. At tbe wool sales there was strong competition, and large seluction. New Zealand wools were 5 per oent below the May sales, but merinos remained firm at the opening rates. Australian brought B£d to lid. LONDON, June 23. At tbe wool auotions there is better competition, and prices are firmer.
