(FROM OtJE OWN CORRESPONDENT.} After Mr McGuire'a meeting, a number of the audience met together for the i purpose of initiating a movement towards passing the coming winter evenings in a more pleasing and profitable manner than heretofore. After considerable dis- j cussion, it was decided to form a " Mutual Improvement Society." About twenty names were banded in for a start, and a committee of seven were appointed to draw up rules, &o. Professor T. Ltcbtwark gave bis promised free lecture on the horse in the schoolroom on Monday last. There was a good attendance, and at the conolmion of the lecture he was successful in forming a class of 14 pupilß, Tuesday and Wednes. day were employed in lesson. Each pupil apsaki in praise of Mr Lichtwark's simple and effioient methods and is craite satisfied with the value received for his pound.
I was in error in stating that Mr J, Coxhead lost four sheep crossing Otakeho. It should have read Mr Peter McCarthy.
