Nhjk PiiTMOUTH, April 7. Cattle.— At Stratford "on. Tuesday the yards were fairly well filled with stock. Bidding was slightly better than last time, especially for calves, and nearly every pen cleared. Calves made 24s to 28s, yearlings to 40s, 12 to 18-months steers £2 5s to JB3, Store cows M to £3 ss, 2-year steers £3 5s to £3 9s 6d, 2 to 2i-year steers .£3 18s 6d, cows to £5.
At Waiwakaiho on Thursday Tery few cattle were advertised, but many came forward; in fact, the yards were full, and some very good staff among them. Bidding was much livelier than last sale, and better prices /were Tealised. Calves made 21s 6d to 28s, yearlings to 38s, store cows je3 to £3 10s, heifers in calf £3 165, springing do £A to £5 2s, the latter being very good half-bred Ayrshires, fat cows JB4 4s, 2i-year steers JB3 18s 6d, 3 year steers £4> to JBS 4s, cows and calves £3 7s 6d to £4, weedy 38s. Sheep. — Lambs 5s 6d to 6s Id, ewes 6s 6d to 7s Bd, cnlls 2s 6d.
The clearing sale of' Messrs. McQueen Bros., at Stratford, on Wednesday, was a " freeze " so far as the auction was concerned. Afterwards I succeeded in quitting two of the farms : 231 acres to Mr. K. Montgomerie, and 113 acres to Mi. John Porhan. Bullocks were all sold afterwards and some of the sheep.
