It will be noticed by an advertisement elsewhere tbat the Opunake Town Board call a public meeting ot ratepayers in tbe Taranaki County for Saturday evening next, to discuss tbe question of repaiis to damages caused by tbe late storm.

An inquest was held to-day into the cause of tbe death of Bichard Alexander Bray. A brother of deceased, who resides at Kaponga, seeing the account of tbe accident in the Stab, came into town and identified the deceased as his brother. A verdict ot accidental death was returned.

John Noakes, the accident to whom, at Manaia, was reported yesterday, died at midnight ; an inquest will be held to morrow. Our Maoaia correspondent e&ya tbat be leaves a brother at Manaia and another in Canterbury to mourn tbeir iOEB.

A meetiDg of tbe Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held on Monday, wben ordinary routine business wbb transacted. An opinion from Mr Govett was read, showing that under tbe present law the proposed new hospital at Hawera would have to be managed by the New Plymouth Board.

Particulars filed in Cliristchmch as to the bankruptcy of T. W. Maude and George Harper, solicitors, show tbe total amount of Maude's liabilities to be £1515 Is 7d and bis assets .£362 8s Bd, leaving a deficiency of £1152 12a lid. Harper's liabilities to unsecured creditors are £147 13s 6d ; secured creditors, £3348 10s 6d ; less estimated value of securities, £4300 ; surplus to contra, £951 9a 6d ; total debtp, £147 13s 6d. Assets — Furniture, &0., £825 ; library and law books, £225 ; other books, £50 ; property, £15 ; surplus from securities in bands of secured creditors, £951 9s 6d ; total assets, £2566 9s Gel ; surplus, £1418 165. Tbe secured creditors are — A. Gray (Harman and Stevens), Christchurcb, amount of debt £2100; Union Bank of Australia, £1248 103 66 ; estimated value of the security for botb, £4300. Tbe above named creditors have a first and second mortgage over property at 4300. Tbe debtors set out tbeir liabilities

in respect of the partnership debts of Harper A Co. as unascertained.
