WELLINGTON, February 28.

Sir Walter Bailer takes with him, in tbe Coptic, some very valuable and interesting collections for the Imperial Institute. B°Rides Sir Walter's own Maori antiquities, ptc, the Hon. Mr Seddon has obtained a fine collection of timbers, building stones, and marbles, shown by the Public Works Department at the Dunedin Exhibition, and afterwards handed to tbe Dunediu Museum. Many specimens are in duplicate, and the selection made is fully representative. Tbe Eailway Commissioners have handed over tbe collection of timbers made for Chicago, and an excellent series of photos are also given. Free railage will be made to other .collections. A sample of Middle Island, coal was promised, but Kawakawa will be the only one ready to go in the Coptic. Mr John Eoberts has undertaken to collect a proper wool exhibit from the next clip, and Messrs Turnbull and Co. do the same for flax. Tbe latter will be ready for the opening. Mr Seddon will collect a mineral exhibit later on. The Canterbury Museum send a splendid moa skeleton, similar to tbe one Sir J. Yon Haast valued at £1000. Mr Mitchelsqn has promised a collection of kauri gum. Tbe shipping companies charge half freights only. Altogether the New Zealand court will not be badly represented at the opening, and by tbe time all tbe collections are in place must be an attractive sight. The Premier cabled that ail 1 the space would be used.
