AUCKLAND, February 28.

The flood in the Kaibau Valley, near Dargaville, was the heaviest ever known. It made a clean sweep of the Maori plautation, horses, pigs, sheep, poultry. One Maori child was drowned. Several people had to escape through the roofs and pass the night on rafts. Tbe Kaiawai railway bridge is blocked with drift timber, but otherwise not much damaged.
