A CABLE FBOM THE AGENTGENEEAL.

(PER PBESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, February 9. The Agent-General has cabled to the Government confirming tbe statement that injury is being done to the buttf^ trade by the uneven quality of consign* ments. He states that of the butter shipments recently received, ' die " farmern' " and •' mixed " lota have been found to be unsound, and owing to. this the prospects of the trade are most discouraging, the action of shippers having proved most 'detrimental to it. Only the best creamery butter, he says, has proved a success, and opinions are expressed by English experts that colder carrying chambers are desirable.
