GRAND LODGE OF NEW ZEALAND.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DTJNEDIN, January 26.

The report presented by tbe Board of Benevolence at the communication of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand showed a credit balance of £421. M.W. Bro. M v Niccol, Grand Master, speaking at tbe banquet, said be had never anticipated that they would succeed as they had done in snoh a short time. The lnture of tbe Grand Lodge was now quite assured, and if they succeeded in carrying it on in the future as they had done daring tbe past few years, they woQld have no reason to' regret its establishment. They had overcome all their difficulties, and it only l remained-fgr tbem now to show that toe** were really worthy of self-government. The Freemasons of the colony who now stood outside the New Zealand Grand Lodge ought really to come forward and join them. Tbe Grand Lodge had tbe right to stand on its dignity until the, others made the first approach', bat they ooald go oh minding their own business and perfecting then: own government, and they would very soon find that the op. position would dwindle away. They had

now eighty -six lodges unaer their charters, working together fcarmonioqaly, and all were active and prosperous. There was also every probability, that daring the next 12 months the number would reach 100.
