DEATH OF MR. BLACKETT.

WELLINGTON, January 9, Jno. Blaokett, C.E., who was Engineer* in-Chief for the colony from 1874 until 1890, when be went to London as consulting and inspecting engineer for the colony, died here yesterday. He only arrived from England fonr weeks ago. His health bad been bad for some time before leaving whioh caused bis return. He- was among the earliest settlers of Taranaki, where he arrived in 1851, bat, some six years later, i removed to Nelson, where he carried out important engineering works. He leaves a widow, a bod, an 3 two daughter*. HIS EXCELLENCY LORD GLASGOW while partaking of some refreshments during the interval at the Opera House remarked : " One thing yor have here that is good Coffee. " It Ib scarcely necessary to say his Excellency was drinking Crease's A. I. Coffee. Sold everywhere in 1 and 21b tins
