EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.

Haweba, January 6.

We had a small sale at Stratford on Friday the 30th nit., the holidays still tending to keep thingß rather quiet, though what cattle were yarded sold well, most lines changing hands before leaving the yards. We quote .- 2 to 2£-year steers, JB3 lls to JB4 5s 6d j 12 to 18-months do, JB2 17s to .£3 ss; weaners. 36s to 37s 6dj empty cows, £3 7s 6d to £4, 8 a j springers, JB4 15s to M 10s.

Our monthly horse fair was held on Saturday, the 31st tilt., and we experienced a dragging sale, for there was practically no demand for horses of any kind, though' we had a fair number entered, and it resulted in, a .good many returning home unsold. 'We quote quote : Harness horses, £5 2s 6d to £8' ss ; hacks and other kinds from 7b 6d upwards.

Oar opening stock sale of this year, which was to have been held at Manaia on Wednesday, the 4th inst., did not come off, for owing to the severe storm — which is the worst we have experienced — absolutely no stock came forward.

We regret to say that the bulk of the v wheat crops in this district, which, a few days ago looked so promising, are now just the very reverse.
