EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.

Haweea, December 2. We held a very successful sale at Okaiawa, on Friday, the 25th ult. The j principal feature was „ the stock offered by Mr. J- P. Lomax, his flock of sheep being well worthy of notice. In addition to the aforesaid there were a large number of cattle, and a few lines of sheep entered, so that our yards were over-crowded, and we hardly knew what t5 do for space. The attendance was large and bidding exceedingly brisk throughout, so that the bulk of the cattle sold, but although there was keen competition for the sheep most of them were passed in, not reaching the reserves. We quote : fat bullocks £6 3s to J26 14s, forward bullocks £4> 14s to £5 17s, 18-months to 2-jear steers £2 14s to £3 15s ; cows in calf £3 2s 6d to M 18s, mixed yearlings 43s to 545. Sheep.— Woolly hoggets 14s 7d. Our monthly horse fair was held in the Union yards, on Saturday, the 26th ult. There was a very large entry of horses, amongst which there were a few useful hacks and trap horses, but a large percentage of those entered were a class that was not much sought after, so that we had only a dull sale. We would again mention that there is a good demand for really first class draught horses. We quote: harness horses £8 2s 6d to JBI3, hacks £3 10s to £12. Our fortnightly sale in the Glover road yards, Hawera, was held on Wednesday, the 3Dth'inst., there being a large number of cattle and sheep yarded, and a good muster of buyers. The sale was brisk throughout, and we are pleased to say most of the stock sold. We quote: fat and forward bullocks £5 0s to £6 9s 6d, 2 to 2i-year steers £3 15s to £4, 113 6d; 18months steers £3 8s to £3 14s 6d ; yearlings 60s to 575, 12 to 18-months heifers 2s to £3 Bs. Sheep. — Woolly hoggets 13s.
