LATEST BACCARAT CASE.
A DISGRACE TO THE PEERAGE. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, November 3. Judgment was given to-day in tbe oase in which it was sought to recover from one Maxwell, a Scotch farmer, tbe sum of i&OOO, on a cheque given to tbe Marquis of Aylesbury ;for losses at baccarat. The defence was that Maxwell was drunk when he signed tbe cheque, and tbe Court upheld this view, and, believing the Marquis was aware of his condition at the time, dismissed the case with costs. The obeque had been paid over to a third party, who brought an action to recover the amount.
