ESCAPE OP A PRISONER.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) ASHBURTON, March 25. A young man named Henry Peroy Fisber, alias Harry Percy Fisher, alias Henry Smitb, alias Harry Gilbert, alias A. F. Stewart, at present representing himself as an insurance agent, was arrested on Wednesday night at Cbertsey on a obarge of forging and uttering a cheque for £5 10s. He remained in an hotel in custody all night, but early on the following morning he made a sudden dash and escaped Irom the constable, and, being a fast runner, is still at large. It is said the offender is well known and dangerous oriminal. He escaped from tbe labor gang at the Dunedin harbor works by swimming ; he also esoaped from custody, with the bandouffs on, by jumping r ofi a train going at the rate of twenty roifea an hour.
