Constable Sparke, for some time in this town, but who was granted leave of absence from duty on account of ill-health, died on Saturday night of consumption. Constable Sparke was much respected for his civil and obliging manners, and ono and all regret his early desease. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn his loss.
We understand that the sum of was the gross amount taken at the entertainment on Thursday night, a welcome addition to the library funds.
Can your Society not be persuaded to bring " Martha" down. If timely notice were given a good house would be the result.
Many of our townspeople went to the Waverley assembly dance on Friday, and enjoyed themselves very much.
I have had the opportunity of perusing the draft bill for eradication of the Califorman thistle. The clauses aro very stringent, and the penalties will press heavily upon those who neglect to clean their ground of the weed.
