About 25 householders were present. The chairman pro tern of the retiring committee, Mr. J. Pennington, was in the chair. He presented to the meeting a statement of accounts, as follows, for the year ended 31« if Dec, 1887 : — Receipts : [Balance at lsfc^an., 1887. £5 4s 10a" ; capitation from board, £20 13s Id ; 'Wesleyan Church, towards cleaning, £1 15b; total, £27 12s lid. Expenditure : Clean1 ing, £12 10s 2d ; fuel, 18s ; sundries and repairs, .£l4 Os 8d ; balance in hands of secretary and bank, 4s Id ; total, £27 12s lid. Since 31st Dec, 1887, capitation amounting to £3 193 6d had been received, and payments had been made amounting to ;£3 10s, leaving a credit balance of 13s 7d ; debts of £'3 9s 6d, and capitation due of about £4: 63 Gd, leaving a balance of £1 10 a7d of assets over liabilities. The meeting then proceeded to elect the committee, when the undermentioned householders were proposed: — Messrs. Afflick, Cross, McHardy, Dabinett, Dcs Forges, McSweeney, Dudley, Pepperill, and Pennington, necessitating a poll being taken, with tbe result as follows : C. McHardy, 30; J. Dabinett, 27; D. McSweeney,"24; A. Gross, 20; R. Afflick, 18; J. Pennington, 15; R. Pepperill, 13; F. DesForges, 13; E. J. Dudley, 8. There being a tie, the chairman decided to settle the matter by vote of the meeting, which decided by 15 to 5 in favor of F. DesForges. This being the whole of the business, the meeting dispersed. At the meeting of the committee held immediately afterwards, Mr. Pennington was elected chairman by 5 to 2. April 23.
