ISLAND BAY RACES.
(per united press association.) WELLINGTON, January 26. The second day's races of the Island Bay Club were held to-day. The weather waß fine, but there was only a moderate attendance of the public. The results are as follows : — Stewards Handicap, of 50 soys. Seven furlongs. Whisper 1 Forester 2 Only two started. Won by about three lengths. Time, lm. 3OAs. Dividend, £16s. Selling Hurdle Eaae, of 40 soys. Kangaroo 1 Johnny 2 Rata 3 Won by a length. Dividend, £1 13s. Welter Handicap, of 40 soys. One mile and three furlongs. Marlborough 1 The Shah 2 Jim 3 Kangaroo, Cupid, and Volunteer also ran. A pretty finish. Won by half a head. Time, 2m. 30a. Dividend, £1 11s. Selling Plate, of 20 soys. Fabrication 1 Dividend, £1 16s. Consolation, of 25 soys. Little Scrub 1 The Shah 2 Smooth 3 Dividend, £2 2s. The total amount passed through the totalieator was £2872.
