WELLINGTON, January 27. Mong Chong, Chinaman, husband of the woman now in custody on a charge of infanticide, has been arrested as accomplice.
CHRISTCHURCH, January 27.
At the Lake Forsyth regatta 1000 people attended. The water was rough. In the champion fours, Canterbury came in first, Kaiapoi, second ; Star Wellington, third ; Wellington Rowing Clup, fourth ; Union Canterbury, fifth. The Wellingtons entered a protest against Canterbury for fouling. The protest was upheld and it was decided to row the race again.
BLENHEIM, January 27. A eight-roomed house was destroyed by fire yesterday. The occupier, W. Branson, had barely time to make his escape, and rescue the children. Insurance, house £300 in the London Liverpool and Globe ; furniture, i'2so New Zealand.
WANGANUI, January 27.
News has been received of the death, at Christchurch, of the Rev. Dr. Harvey, principal of the Wanganui Collegeate school. The deceased gentleman was on his way to England by order of his medical advisers.
