Alexander Blame, member for South Armagh, and Father Maofadden have been arrested for speeches made at Gweedore, County Donegal, in support of the plan of campaign. Mr. W. O'Brien, M.P., has been released from gaol. Dr. Moorhou6e, Bishop of Manchester, preaches at Cambridge on Sunday next on the subiectof church extension throughout the Australasian colonies. The licenses of the jockeys Wood and Barrett have been cancelled for unfair riding.

ROME, January 19.

Bisbop Moore, of Ballarat, has had a second private audience with His HolineßS the Pope, and presented an address to His Holiness from the Roman Catholic hierarchy of Australia. In acknowledging it, His Holiness made minute enquiries respecting the Catholics in tbe colonies, and expressed an opinion that tbe advancement was due to self-government.

SYDNEY, Jannary 23.

The tug steamer which was despatched to search lor tbe missing boat of the American ship J. T. Berry, burnt at sea, has returned without finding a trace of the ill-fated mariners. A minute Bearch was made o( Lord Howe Island without success, and, as the weather has been fine there for some time past, it is considered that the boat has not been in that vicinity, as a landing could easily have been effected. It is now thought that those missing must have perished, unless tbey had the good fortune to fall in with a passing vessel.

PERTH (W.A.), January 22. Information has been received here that the dispute between Sir Frederick Napier Broome, Governor of the colony, and the Hon. A. C. Onslow, Chief Justice, has been referred to a committee of the Privy Council.

A disgraceful disturbance is reported from Rouen. During a service in the cathedral, the abbe was frequently interrupted by people asking him questions, and by the singing of songs. The disturbance rapidly developed into a riot of so serious a nature that the police and military had to be called in to quell it. A number of arrests were effected and peace restored.

Prince Heinrich, second son of the Crown Prince, is to be married in May to the Princess Irene, daughter of the Grand Duke Ludwig of Hesse, and granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
