AUCKLAND, October 13. The Waitoa goldfield is reported to be a duffer. Mr. Smith, the proprietor of tbe land, denies any salting of the deposits. DUNEDI^, October 13. Mrs. Loft is now likely to recover. During the voyage of the Mnrgaret Galbruitli, a seaman named Peddington was heaved overboard by a heavy .sea. The ship brought- to, a boat was lowered, and in less than 2£ minutes from the time he was washed overboard, the man was back on board, none the worse for the adventure.
