(PRESS ASSOCIAIION.) WELLINGTON, July 1. Tbe City Council have agreed to pay one-third of the cost of a steam fire engine, provided the insurance companies contribute two-thirds ot the maintenance. The tramway concession jb about to • expire, and the City Council have appointed a committee to consider the relations of tbe corporation towards the "proprietors, with a view to purchase, if desirable. The manager of the tramway has furnished a statement, showing profits for. the last two years to be £2975 and £1042 respectively,- but the committee obtained another statement, which, they alleged,, showed larger returns. They - recom'tnended that notice' to purchase be given, and the council adopted the report. TAUBANGA, July 1. William^Kelly's store and public hall at Ohinemutu was destroyed by fire this 'morning. Insured for JBBOO in the Union office/ Origin unknown. An inquest will .beheld., ■ . ' -
