FIRE AT OPUNAKE.

OPUNAKE, May 31. At four o'clock yesterday afternoon, a fire occurred at the flaxmill, which resulted in the destruction of the scutching and tow shed. The main building was saved, only a portion of the front boards bein» burut off. A portion of the studs was burnt also. The fire originated at tbe scutcher whilst that machine was being worked, and even before help arrived from the camp and towu it was well in band, although there i 3 no doubt that further destruction would havo resulted but for such help promptly and willingly given. The damage is estimated at about £25. and it is understood that there is no insurance on the building or machinery.
