Radio on Vehicles
POWER BOARD DECISION At the suggestion of Mr. H. V. Horlor the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board decided at a meeting last week to go into the matter of installing two-way radio on its vehicles. The initial cost, said Mr. Horlor, would be £2OO for each vehicle, but annual charges were only between £lO and £ls. The chairman, Mr. J. Huggan, said that other local authorities in the district were investigating the possibilities and he thought the project well worth considering. Radio in board vehicles would be particularly useful during emergencies or disasters. The Post and Telegraph Department would provide the central station, and other organisations would use the same wave-length.
It was reported that a demonstration was being carried out, and the engineer would report to the Board.
