is certainly long overdue, and it is to be hoped that it will be proceeded :|Lwith without undue delay. For the police force in Lower Hutt has been housed in a very primitive manner, and it is not fair to it or tb the district that it serves that these'conditions should be allowed to continue indefinitely. With the phenomenal growth of population in the Hutt Vallev the duties of the
jgsi force have grown too, and it HP deserves more adequate quarters.
More accommodation, too, is re-
quired at the Lower Hutt Courtt house, which is totally inadequate I for the volume of business dealt with. Last year Magistrates, solicitors and others commented strongly upon the overcrowding, and it was hoped that something would be done to relieve the congestion. A new police station and an enlarged.or new Courthouse" are among Lower Hutt's rnost urgent needs. Let us hope that they will Uj provided before very long.
