V BELMONT BRANCH
The last meeting of the Belmont Women’s Institute was held in the Men’s Club. Miss Presants presided and welcomed visitors and a good attendance of members. Mrs. Swift, secretary, read the Dominion . President’s letter from Home and Country. It was announced that a group travel trip to Invercargill, Eglington Valley and Lake Te Anau would be leaving Wellington on March 24.
A collection was taken for A.C.W.W. funds.
Mrs. Askew read the report of the half-yearly Federation meeting held at Silverstream. A collection of bed socks and babies’ bootees was received for the Hutt Hospital.
November is International month. Mrs. Horn gave a most interesting talk on her trip to England and Holland. She was presented with a sheaf of flowers. Competition for best bloom was won by Mrs. Jones, and the prettiest coat hanger by Mrs. Turner. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.
The singing of "God Defend New Zealand” brought a most interesting meeting to a close.
