WELLINGTON BAND PAGEANT LOWER HUTT NEXT SUNDAY The band pageant held at hie Basin Reserve, Wellington, on Sunday attracted a large crowd. Nine brass bands and eight pipe bands from Wellington and the Hutt Valley participated, and the scene was one of great animation and colour. Mr. W. Currie, of Lower Hutt, carried out the secretarial duties. The pageant will be repeated at the Lower Hutt Recreation Ground on Sunday, with the added attraction of the champion Fusiliers marching team.

The playing by the Lower Hutt Civic Military Band of Parry’s beautiful Bridal March, chosen by Princess Elizabeth for her wedding, was one of the highlights of the afternoon. An impressive feature was the playing of “Lead. Kindly Light, ‘ by the massed bands, as a mark of sympathy with the relatives of those who lost their lives in the lire at Christchurch. An exhibition of the Australian quickstep, which is different from that in New Zealand, was given by the Wellington Waterside Silver Band which recently competed at the contest in Newcastle, New South Wales. The Lower Hutt Municipal Band \vas third in the hymn competition, which was won by the Waterside Silver Band. The Hutt Valley was represented by the Civic, Municipal, and Upper Hutt Bands, the Pipe Band and the High School Band.
