NEW DOMINION' SECRETARY The Rev. Robert F. Chisholm. M.A.. 8.D., lias taken up his duties as Dominion secretary to the British and Foreign Bible Society. New Zealand. in succession to the Rev. David Cahier. who retired as from the beginning ot tins year. Mr. Chisholm's appointment to the New Zealand secretaryship was made by the London Committee of the Society, on the recommendation of the New Zealand Council, and already he has established himself in the hearts of those who have met him as a Scots-

man of world-wide experience i> Christian activities, of warm evan gvlical outlook, and of a strong per sonal charm of character. For the last ten years Mr. Chis holm was general secretary to tin National Bible Society of Scotland and uming his period of office \v;i; engaged in the task of preparation publication, and distribution of tin Scriptures. His duties include the

administration of his Society's work in many fields throughout the world and the direct oversight or the work in Scotland, where he enjoyed the confidence of all the Protestant denominations. Outstanding in his work was his contribution to the cooperative movement among the principal Bible Societies, whereby there has now been formed "The United Bible Societies" which will coordinate the efforts and activities of Bibl" Societies in all parts of the world and thus contribute to a still wider circulation of the Scriptures. fn 1 fi2;"; Mr. Chisholm was asked to open up work in Eastern Europe, with headquarters at Cluj. Rumania, and was engaged there in work among the Jewish people until November. 1933. During that time. in addition to his missionary work, he was attached to the University of Cluj as Lecturer in the English Department, and lie bad close contacts with the Theological College of the Reformed Church of Transylvania. In this work Mr. Chisholm used Hungarian. Rumanian. French, and German languages.
