OBSTETRIC HOSPITAL

APPEAL FOR FUNDS A meeting was called by the Mayor of Lower Hutt. Mr. J. W. Andrews, last week, to consider, the appeal that has been launched throughout New Zealand for funds for the new hospital for women in Auckland. The hospital is becoming an established fact, built by the Government to function as a post-graduate school on obstetrics and gynaecology. All New Zealanders are asked to assist in tin endowment of a professorial chair. This will entail the collection over the whole of New Zealand of £IOO.OOO. The professor will be a man of world standing, whose knowledge will benefit tin whole community by making New Zealand doctor.* one hundred p°r ceiu. efficient and up to date in maternity work. Of the total amount required Wellington has been asked to raise £20.000 and Lower Hint £::ooo. A sub-committee was set up to launch the appeal. This committee will meet again next week.
