MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT
CHAMBER'S CONGRATULATIONS
The council of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry decided, at its last meeting, to send congratulations to Mr. J. W. Andrews, Mayor of Lower Hutt. upon his appointment as a member of the Local Government Commission. Mr. N. T. Gillespie said that he had been in close association with Mr. Andrews for several years, and greatly admired his unbounded energy and acumen. The present position of Lower Hutt was largely duo to Mi. Andrews, and the city was losing a very important man.
Mr. E. A. Tomkies said Mr. Andrews was ever willing to help the Chamber in any matter put before him, and was always approachable.
The motion of congratulation and good wishes was carried by acclamation.
